Nov 27, 2017 — Two Cy-Fair ISD football teams advanced to the regional semifinals with victories over the weekend.
Langham Creek defeated the Katy Taylor Mustangs, 35-14, in their area-round match up on Friday, November 24th. Langham Creek’s Chris Herron went 14/27 and threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Chris Mehn rushed for 67 yards on 14 carries. Receivers Devin Lawrence, Ahmad Young, and Golden Eke all recorded a touchdown reception. D.J. Harris led the Lobos with 19 total tackles and snagged one interception. Langham Creek will play in the Regional Semifinals for the first time since 1997. The Lobos have never reached the Regional Finals in program history. Langham Creek will collide with the Kingwood Mustangs in the Regional Semifinals on Saturday, December 2 at the University of Houston’s TDECU Stadium at 12:00 PM.
The Cy-Fair Bobcats eliminated the Strake Jesuit Crusaders, 17-0, in an area-round contest on Friday, November 24th in Katy. The Bobcats improved to 11-0 while recording their second shutout of season. Cy-Fair held the Crusaders to only 29 rushing yards on the day, a near season low for the Bobcats. In his fourth career playoff start, senior Cam Arnold went 9/18/1 and threw for 213 yards with a touchdown. Trent Kennedy notched his ninth 100-yard rushing performance of the season against Strake Jesuit. Cy-Fair will play the Friendswood Mustangs in the Regional Semifinals on Friday, December 1 at the University of Houston’s TDECU Stadium at 7:00 PM.
