Cy Woods Coaching History

David Jones

2008-2011

Hired to open up the 8th football program in Cy Fair ISD history, David Jones got things rolling on the right foot and it only got better. After clinching a playoff spot and winning their first postseason game in 2008, Jones and Cy Woods became one of the better football programs in the state, making the Regional Finals in 2009 and 2010. Jones would the Wildcats into the playoffs again in 2011 before leaving to coach at Kerrville Tivy. In his short four years though, Jones never failed to win a playoff game each season, and set the standards bar high for Cy Woods teams to come.

Trent Faith

2012-present

Formerly a defensive coordinator under Greg McCaig at Cy Creek, Trent Faith’s attempt to continue the winning history of Cy Woods got off to a slow start. Plagued with injuries and the usual bumps of transitioning to a new head coach, the Wildcats fizzled out and finished with a 4-6 record in 2012, their worst record to date. The misfortunes didn’t last long however, as Faith immediately turned the team around to clinch back to back playoff spots in 2013 and 2014.
