Langham Creek Coaching History

Neal Quillin

1986-1988

Despite only staying on the job for three years, Neal Quillin opened up the fourth football program for Cy Fair ISD on some pretty good standards. Never finishing with a losing record, Quillin coached the Lobos to a district title and a trip to the Regional Semifinals in just their second season of existence, as well as another playoff appearance the year after. Though he wasn’t with the program long, Quillin still managed to set a high bar for Langham Creek teams to come.

Dennis Demel

1989-2002

In the 14 total years he spent as the head football coach at Langham Creek, Dennis Demel’s front six were about as far off from the back eight as possible. A series of lackluster to below average performances from 1989 to 1994 were followed by a massive explosion. Over the next eight seasons, Demel’s Lobos would not miss the playoffs (setting a Cy Fair ISD record) as they captured four district titles in the process. He would leave Langham Creek on top of Cy Fair ISD football, with playoff appearance No. 8 and district title No. 4 coming in his final season on the sidelines.

Mac Woodfin

2003-2008

Taking over a program at the height of it’s power, Mac Woodfin oversaw a disastrous two year collapse for Langham Creek. As the team suffered it’s first losing season in nearly a decade during Woodfin’s debut, the Lobos absolutely imploded the second year in, putting up a winless 0-10 mark. While the ship would be somewhat rightened following three straight 6-4 seasons, Woodfin could never work his team back into the playoffs. Ironically enough, Langham Creek’s 3-6 Hurricane Ike shortened 2008 campaign was enough to squeak them into the postseason as a No. 4 seed. That weird anomaly would be Woodfin’s final year at Langham Creek before he retired.

Todd Thompson

2009-present

Langham Creek went looking for a coach with winning experience after Mac Woodfin retired at the end of the 2008 season, and they got exactly what they were looking for in Todd Thompson. The former offensive coordinator built a cataclysmic attack while at Cy Falls that won the Golden Eagles 11 playoff games in four years, including a trip to the state championship in 2006. Thompson’s success as an assistant coach didn’t take long to bleed into the Lobos program, as the team is still yet to post a losing record in his six years in charge. Couple that with four consecutive playoff appearances from 2011 to 2014 and two district titles in the last four seasons, Langham Creek will want Thompson and his staff to stick around for a very long time.
