WIRED:
What else is new. Despite not being able to defend their state title, Cy-Fair was Cy-Fair in 2018, reaching the fourth round of the playoffs and winning three times as many games as they lost in district play. Head coach Ed Pustejovsky is 13/14 on getting his team into the postseason when a new school opening doesn’t poach half his roster, and since that’s not happening this year, expect the Bobcats to have one of the best teams in Cy Fair ISD yet again.

The two things that have always driven Cy-Fair is defense and the running game; the Power-I offense Pustejovsky runs like its the 1970’s has worked wonders in his time with the Bobcats, and their main man in running back LJ Johnson (who earned District Newcomer of the Year honors last year as a sophomore) is back. Two tight ends in Bayne Tryon and Jack Witmer both return. The biggest question mark besides quarterback is the offensive line, as Cy-Fair will have to replace all five of them up front, but that’s never exactly stymied the Bobcats before. From a defensive perspective, seven starters are back, the most in 17-6A, which is the worst possible news for any of the other eight schools trying to challenge Cy-Fair for the district crown.

Running game? Check. Defense? Check. This squad looks primed and prepped to be another one of those great teams under the great mind of Ed Pustejovsky. Cy-Fair has done great with far less in their past. It’ll be a tough task for anyone else to overcome them in the district race, or to even beat them at all, for that matter.
