WIRED:
Cy Falls has seen marked improvement in the two years head coach Chris Brister has been at the helm, going from 2-8 to 5-5 in his first year, following that up with a 9-3 record last season that saw Golden Eagles make it to the second round of the playoffs.

The offense will see some new faces in new spots this year; perhaps the most notable of those is quarterback Brandon Collins, who spent most of last season at wide receiver before injuries placed him in the QB role for three games. In that trio of contests, Collins proved the switch shouldn’t be a problem for him, as he was dangerous through the air and on the ground to the tune of nearly 700 yards and three touchdowns. On the other side, the defense looks downright scary. Jayden Goodwin and Ricky Johnson could make up the best one-two punch of any secondary in Cy Fair ISD, as they combined for over 115 tackles and 11 interceptions last season and can both cover a lot of ground. Defensive end Dontrell Kelly is an absolute unit on the line and depending on how many times teams are forced to double-team him this season, he’ll probably come the closest any player has to breaking former Oklahoma lineman Du’Vonta Lampkin’s school record of 38 TFL’s and 16 sacks that was set in 2014.

Much like Cy Creek, if you put this squad in any district other than 17-6A, they’re more than likely vying for a district title. But again, the top-heaviness of the district will likely keep them out of the race once you get to the latter third of district play. Don’t expect Cy Falls to miss the playoffs, though.
