Head Coach: Greg Rogers (2nd season)
Lettermen R/L: 37/0
Starters O/D: 11/11
2018 Record: 0-10, 0-8
2019 Prediction: 8th

Growing pains are to be expected for a brand new program with no seniors on the roster, and that’s exactly what we saw last year. Greg Rogers’ rookie crew went winless in 2018, but they return literally everybody from last year’s squad, which will give them a good foundation with which to take the next step in Cy Park football history.

The question is, how big of a step will that be? The Tigers spent most of 2018 on the wrong end of blowouts, getting outscored by a 91-485 margin in their 10 games; the only games in which they were within striking distance of a win were against fellow newcomer Klein Cain and a Cy Springs program that was in the middle of a down year. Among all those returning players, the small and speedy running back Sergio Small will likely anchor an offense that includes Michael Tolbert and Jasper Warren. Defensive back Cameron Jeng was a Second Team All-District selection last year and is one of the best kick returners in 14-6A.

Growing pains will likely continue through the 2019 season for this Cy Park group, but don’t expect it to be like last year. The Tigers are due for their first win in program history, and will likely get it, and possibly more, this upcoming season.
