WIRED:
The difference between 6-5 and 11-0 is a thin one; Langham Creek started last season 0-4, losing all of those games by one possession or less. The Lobos followed that up with six straight wins, enough to grab a playoff spot, before bowing out to Cedar Ridge in the first round of the playoffs with – you guessed it – a one possession loss.

Much of the offensive production that averaged nearly 31 points per game last season has been lost to graduation. The offensive line remains largely intact, headlined by three-year starter Brayden Staggs. Running back Kash McCray showed good signs in his limited touches last year as a sophomore, but most of the production will have to be pieced together from newer names. Langham Creek’s defense will likely be what pushes them beyond our prediction and into a playoff spot; seven starters return there, with Alex Rodriguez and Ernest Thomas anchoring what should be a terrifying pass rush. Jordan Shields, who finished 2018 with 110 tackles, returns at the linebacker spot, while Henry Jackson will be a name to watch in the secondary.

While all of the defense is well and good for the Lobos, in an era of the spread offenses and 500+ yard games, having a lot of question marks there is not something you want coming into a new season. Quarterback remains the biggest unknown of them all. The defense will make Langham Creek a force to be reckoned with all year, but we think it just won’t quite be enough to earn them a trip to the playoffs.
